Verse:
Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written,“
‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’” Then the devil left him, and behold, angels
came and were ministering to him (Matthew 4:10-11).
Personal Thought:
Right before Jesus began His ministry here on earth, He was
led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. But of course Satan was no match for
Jesus! I find it interesting Satan
tactics. Here we see some of Satan’s schemes. For starters, he looks for the weak spots,
Jesus was hungry and so Satan immediately went after food. Also he tries to manipulate even using
scripture, which Jesus responds, “You shall not put the Lord your God to the
test” (Matt 4:7). And then he tries to
go after Jesus’ kingdom, trying to get Him to bow now to a false kingdom. And Jesus said, “Be gone, Satan.
Satan still uses the same tactics. He still goes for weakness
and he knows exactly where to aim, usually where it hurts the most. Through lies, his lies we have believed through
the years. He manipulates and gives false
promises of worldly things. Beware of
his schemes that he uses as traps.
Prayer:
Glorious Father, may we worship You and serve You only. Thank you Lord for Your will in our
lives. May You strengthen us in our
weakness and give us clarity in scripture.
Replace the lies with Your Truth.
Truth, for those who belong to you, we are loved, forgiven, and
redeemed. Help us to beware of Satan’s
traps and grant us the strength and knowledge to resist him. Jesus came and said, “Be gone Satan!” and the
devil left. May we remember in the power
of Your name he has to flee! Come Holy
Spirit, Come now and minister to our hearts and minds. In Jesus Name, Amen.
